Whoa! You're fast! And you're online! hahaha!!! Actually, ito yung entry ko sa PBBY. May winners na. Pero di ako kasali. But I'm ok! It was really great having to do these paintings. I felt alive again (in a manner of speaking).
The little girl totally has a lot of character very good.
I agree with frecklefaced29, u make a wonderful illustrator. Brushing up on technique, only one point of contention, though (and i mean this in constructive way): What caught me first to your artwork was your clever use of purple in "bungo"... purple is by far the universal color for shadows as far as impressionists are concerned. With the grass, your choices of technique are very limited to impressionistic, hence, greyed-down purple might have been a better option (although i myself might have to experiment on how not to make purple grass look too alien). Another option would be to add prussian blue to your green and then grey it down with burnt umber... this will result to a deep moss-green effect, which, considering the entire composition, may have had been closer to home. Grey is an advancing color while grey-moss or grey-purple are receding colors. But feel free to ignore my comments, as usual ^^
Other than that, it is a great work.

Ah, yes, I could've done that but I didn't. Originally, it wasn't my intent to add shade/shadows on the grass. But then, I knew that would make my work too dull, so I took the challenge of creating that tree-shade-shadow effect on the grass, which is probably the reason why I wasn't particular this time about the color; because I was too busy trying to acheive that shadow effect on the grass that choosing the best color for the shadow was far from my mind. But you're right, I should've greyed it down a bit. Thanks for noticing! Oh, and thanks heaps for all those tips on color combinations. I really appreciate your criticisms.
Yeah, i fully understand. Technical difficulties usually arise when an element is added later, like the shadow. It affects everybody without exception. Even i myself am not sure exactly how to execute it but experimenting makes up for it. And color combinations can be a bit tricky as they vary from one medium to another. Glad to help.

Hi!
Both pictures are very good, I like them. Here, the details of the old face are really good. However, I am afraid I don't know the book but that doesn't matter.
Thank you, Andi!! Yeah, you're not familiar with the book because it hasn't been published yet. But it will be, soon, here in the Philippines only. thanks again, friend!!! Take care of yourself! Have fun!
